SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Lead Cardiology Testing Nurse, perform exercise and Holter monitor testing, thallium stress testing, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and Holter monitor scanning. Assist with the daily operation of the Stress and Holter Laboratories. All essential functions performed in this position reflect the age-specific needs of the patients. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform and/or assist with diagnostic exercise stress tests, explain tests, and prepare patients for treadmill; monitor tests and analyze exercise test.
- Perform Holter monitor hook-ups, scanning, and preparation of preliminary reports.
- Perform hook-ups and organize facilities for ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
- Perform thallium stress tests, dipyridamole thallium, dobutamine thallium tests in Nuclear Cardiology as needed to provide cross-coverage.
- Organize and maintain all reports files in Exercise/Holter Laboratory.
- Arrange for repair and maintenance of all equipment. Maintain inventory of all necessary supplies for department.
- Participate in Quality Improvement Program for Exercise/Holter Laboratory.
- Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Licensure
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island. Conform to the Code of Professional Nurses. Understand the provisions of the Nurse Practice Act of the state of Rhode Island. Responsible for maintaining a current knowledge of contemporary Professional Nursing practice within the legal framework of the Nurse Practice Act. Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
EXPERIENCE
Two years of cardiac and cardiology experience including one year of telemetry experience required. Experience in diagnostic stress testing preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Healthcare environment such as acute care hospitals, physicians' offices, and ancillary healthcare enterprises. Work with medical equipment and have direct patient contact. Any potential hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety procedures and precautions including use of safety equipment and protective clothing.

- May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment.
- Repeated bending, squatting, and stooping.

$35.70-$71.40
