SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Medical Director and reporting to the Pathology Manager, the Developmental Technologist develops, evaluates, and implements new tests or methodologies for the laboratory, including installation and evaluation of laboratory equipment. Maintains complete and accurate documentation of data generated and prepares data for presentation. Trains laboratory staff in new methods and applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, evaluates and implements tests, reagents or methodologies for the clinical laboratory, including FDA-cleared as well as Analyte Specific Reagent (ASR), Research Use Only (RUO) and LDT formats.
Evaluates and installs laboratory equipment and instrumentation.
Maintains complete and accurate documentation of the data generated for validation, verification and ongoing QA/QC initiatives using relational databases (such as Microsoft Access) and spreadsheet applications (such as Microsoft Excel).
Prepares data for presentation as needed for institutional initiatives using statistical software.
Assists in the documentation and presentation of new initiatives and techniques. Conducts formal presentations at scientific meetings and/or submits documentation for publication to peer reviewed journals as necessary.
Assists in the training and teaching of laboratory staff, residents and students for transition of technologies into clinical practice.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelors Degree in biologic sciences (medical technology. biochemistry, chemistry, biology, etc.).
The ability to operate laboratory equipment and instrument.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in all phases of molecular techniques, specimen preparation, extraction, detection and instrumentation, cost-benefit analysis and comparison with similar technologies.
Exposure to odors, infectious materials, toxins and other hazardous substances.
Regularly required to stand, lift and carry supplies, etc.
Pay Range:
