SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, performs scientific investigative research in areas related to cancer biology. Ensures implementation of approved research program, adherence to research protocols, development and maintenance of study records.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Researches literature in the field, participates in the design of experimental protocols and develops new procedures to carry out established research objectives. Conducts experiments using in vitro and or in vivo techniques; collects and analyzes data using statistical methodology. Specific tasks will include managing data, preparing and summarizing study results, and other tasks integral to research. The research assistant may have the opportunity to participate in generating presentations and reports as the data permit. Conducts experiments according to established protocols and research methodology using in vivo techniques on animal and/or human serum, and/or in vitro techniques including molecular biology, mammalian cell culture.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Completion of a bachelor's degree in the scientific field of the research being conducted.Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrated strong administrative skills and a strong attention to detail.Strong computer skills (familiarity with MS Office including Excel, statistical anlaysis software a plus).Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individualsEXPERIENCE:Experience in molecular and cell biology, especially mammalian cell culture preferred.INDEPENDENT ACTION: Performs independently with the department’s policies and practices.Refers specific complex problems to the supervisor when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures is required.
Pay Range:
