APP Pulmonary

SUMMARY

The Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive ambulatory care to patients with chronic sleep disorders, working collaboratively with faculty physicians, fellows, residents, and respiratory therapists. This position offers opportunities for clinical excellence while overseeing the progress of a caseload of patients.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate and manage patients with sleep disorders including obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, and circadian rhythm disorders

  • Perform detailed history and physical examinations in the clinic setting

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests including sleep studies (polysomnography and home sleep apnea testing) and laboratory studies

  • Review and interpret sleep study results, compliance download data, and titrate CPAP/BiPAP therapy

  • Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans, and expert consultation for clinical issues promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee

  • Maintain a database of all patients on PAP and ensure that they are seen annually or at shorter intervals if necessary

  • Work collaboratively with pulmonary and sleep medicine faculty physicians and fellows while communicating effectively with primary care providers and referring physicians and specialists

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive documentation in the electronic health record, ensuring appropriate coding and billing for services rendered

EDUCATION

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current national certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C/FNP-BC) or Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC)
  • Current DEA license or ability to obtain
  • Current BLS certification

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Experience as a Nurse Practitioner (preferred, but not required)
  • Interest in pulmonary medicine, sleep medicine, or internal medicine
  • Familiarity with chronic disease management and patient education strategies

Pay Range

$127,504.00 - $161,782.40
