Baker

SUMMARY

The Baker reports to the Manager Food Production, Retail and Catering Services. Under general supervision and following approved recipes, prepares a variety of bakery goods and desserts. Utilizes automated kitchen equipment to prepare quantity baked goods and desserts. Ensures that baked goods and desserts are nutritional and appetizing. Decorates cakes and other baked goods.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans the preparation of assigned food items (desserts and bakery goods) and ensures that necessary quantities are available on a timely basis.
  • Reviews recipes and obtains necessary ingredients and utensils to prepare bakery goods and desserts.
  • Mixes ingredients, according to recipes and quantity desired, using hand and automatic equipment.
  • Sets controls on ovens and places bakery goods inside to cook.
  • Removes cooked bakery goods from the ovens to cool, prepares toppings, frostings, etc. to decorate cooked baked goods.
  • Stores prepared bakery goods in appropriate storage area; continually reviews the supply levels of regularly used bakery goods and prepares additional goods as necessary.
  • Mixes and prepares desserts (custards, cooked puddings, etc.) according to recipes and ensures that all prepared desserts are properly stored.
  • Ensures that utensils, pots, pans, and work area are maintained in an orderly and sanitary manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE

  • Associate Degree in food related field preferred.
  • Manager Certified in Food Safety License.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of six (6) years of extensive quantity baking of bakery goods or an Associate's Degree in food related field with a minimum of one (1) year experience.

Pay Range

$21.53-$22.07
