Behavioral Health Trainer

SUMMARY

  • Responsible for delivering Autism Project trainings to virtual and in-person audiences.
  • Attend trainings on The Autism Project workshops, as delivered by the Training Manager.
  • Develop expertise in delivering professional development using The Autism Project’s catalogue of trainings. These trainings are written and developed by the Training Manager. Titles include, but are not limited to:
    • Exploring Autism: A Deep Dive
    • Visual Supports in Practice
    • Sensing Our World: How the 8 Sensory Systems Impact Regulation
    • Proactive Behavior Supports
    • Introduction to Structured Teaching
  • Deliver trainings using respectful, culturally informed, and strengths-based language that supports individual needs and identities.
  • Depending upon your experience, you may be consulted to assist in the development of new trainings, upon request of the Training Manager.
  • Participate in monthly supervision meetings.
  • You may be asked to cover both day and evening trainings.
  • Observes all Brown University Health policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Baccalaureate degree required (master’s degree preferred) with a major in Special Education, Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Counseling or related human service fields.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide training on autism to professionals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Proficient in use of the zoom platform, including chat management, video and screen sharing, breakout rooms, and polls.

EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a professional setting (schools, adult service agencies, clinical environments) with autistic people.
  • A minimum of 1 year of public speaking experience preferred.
  • At least three years of experience in schools or clinical programs for autistic individuals.
  • At least one year of experience conducting trainings for virtual and in-person audiences.
  • Ability and means to independently transport yourself to training and consultations sites in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut (with potential for additional travel).
