SUMMARY
Provide leadership and supervision of support staff and campers; ensure health, safety, and general wellbeing of campers. Implement and maintain a highly structured, safe, appropriate, fun-filled program.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directly supervise and be responsible for his/her group of children; leading the group in age-appropriate activities and making modifications/adjustments to the day/schedule to promote maximum participation of all campers.
- Prepare group environment by following camp cabin set-up guide and keep cabin clean at all times.
- Breakdown cabin/materials at the end of each week in an organized method and completion of inventory checklist.
- Provide feedback and insight to grouping of campers to Director and request additional materials needed as indicated for each camper.
- Support 1:1 staff/campers as needed and provide guidance/therapeutic tools as needed to maximize camper/staff experience.
- Ensure the health and safety of all the children and group staff by using appropriate methods to caution them regarding unsafe practices, behaviors, and conditions.
- Follow Camp protocols and report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports.
- Plan and lead activities with a group in accordance with the camp schedule. Assign support staff/volunteers appropriate jobs/duties to be performed for the week.
- Maintain good public relations with parents.
- Understand that you represent the Autism Project and maintain a positive disposition, demeanor, and attire.
- Attempt to answer parent concerns or make appropriate referrals to the Director.
- Set and maintain supports for campers using positive reinforcement.
- Treat campers with dignity and respect.
- Recognize their individuality and diversity.
- Assist in maintaining the necessary records involving attendance and sign-in and sign-out sheets and related Medicaid billing paperwork.
- When releasing children, ensure that the proper release procedures are followed and appropriate identification is shown.
- Report concerns of parents or of children to direct supervisor; complete necessary child abuse report forms as needed.
- Arrive prepared for the scheduled shift, prepared for constant concentration and visual surveillance of program participants with no distractions.
- Work in harmony and cooperation with staff, volunteers, members of the Autism Project.
- Responsible for attending and participating in staff training and orientation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, or related field or extensive experience working with people with an intellectual disability and/or autism spectrum disorder.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders is a must, along with training in current best practices for supporting individuals with autism.
- Experience directing adult employees in daily responsibilities and schedules.
- Ability to stand, walk, run, and get into a pool with campers.
- Willingness to work as a team member in a rapidly expanding non-profit agency.
