Summary:
The Director will work in close partnership with clinical leaders finance service lines and administrative stakeholders to ensure perioperative operations are efficient compliant and aligned with institutional goals. In conjunction with SVPs Associate Chief and the Surgeon-in-Chief the Director will also create strategic plans around surgical block allocation that consider hospital-wide resource utilization including capital equipment. Furthermore the Director will translate physician recruitment strategies into actionable operational plans to meet clinical and business objectives.
This individual will also lead mid-revenue cycle functions within perioperative services and serve in key governance roles including the Surgical Operations Committees at both RIH and TMH.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Operational Integration
- Implement the successful centralization and standardization of perioperative business operations between RIH and TMH and other sites to promote systemness
- Develop plans KPIs and reporting tools to support enterprise surgical and procedural goals
- Serve as the key operational liaison between perioperative services and service lines finance supply chain and other departments
- In collaboration with senior physician leadership develop and implement strategic surgical block allocation models to optimize resource utilization including capital assets such as robotic platforms and specialized equipment
- Translate physician recruitment strategies into operational roadmaps to ensure alignment of staffing scheduling and infrastructure
2. Scheduling & Workflow Oversight
- Partner with operational leaders to oversee OR room consolidation and implement daily expense reduction strategies
- Provide strategic leadership over all perioperative operations functions including:
- Central OR scheduling
- Decentralized scheduling for OMF ENT Cardiology and other specialty areas
- Endoscopy scheduling
3. Business Operations & Charge Management
- Oversee charge posting processes and ensure timely resolution of work queues (WQ) in collaboration with revenue cycle teams
- Ensure compliance and quality in EHR-related administrative functions (block release/reassignment staff assignments scheduling accuracy)
- Drive accountability for documentation workflows that support charge integrity and timely reimbursement
- Lead mid-revenue cycle operations for perioperative services ensuring alignment with broader institutional revenue cycle strategies
4. Budgeting Finance and Resource Stewardship
- Direct OR Endoscopy PAT and SPD budgeting efforts including volume forecasting FTE management and variance reporting
- Lead capital purchasing expense monitoring and alignment with departmental and institutional financial goals
- Support business plan development:
� Collaborate with service lines to supply finance utilization and volume data
� Own and lead facility-level hospital business plans related to the OR SPD Endoscopy and PAT
- Leverage embedded financial and utilization data to inform both high-level strategy and day-to-day operational decisions including forecasting scenario modeling and performance optimization across surgical services.
5. Leadership & Team Development
- Directly supervise a multi-site operations team including:
- 1 Lead Scheduler (TMH)
- 1 Manager of Operations
- Other staff as needed based on structure
- Build a culture of accountability collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Support onboarding training and development of team members to meet evolving operational demands
6. System-Level Responsibilities:
- Lead OR-related budget planning across Rhode Island Hospitals
- Oversee business operations for PAT including budgeting staffing projections and operational planning
- Develop processes to support service line data pushes/ad-hoc requests and operational performance reporting
- Serve as administrative liaison and member of key governance groups including the RIH/TMH Surgical Operations Committees to ensure alignment with strategic surgical goals and innovation initiatives

Qualifications:
- Education:
- Associate�s degree required.
- Master�s degree is preferred.
- Extensive directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
- Minimum 7�10 years of progressively responsible experience in perioperative procedural or hospital operations including at least 3�5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong understanding of perioperative workflows hospital finance scheduling and charge capture operations.
- Experience with EHR systems (Epic preferred) especially perioperative and
- Bachelor�s degree in nursing Healthcare Administration or related field required.
- Master�s degree in nursing Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 7�10 years of experience in perioperative procedural or hospital operations including at least 3�5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong understanding of perioperative workflows hospital finance case scheduling charge capture and supply chain operations.
- Experience working with EHR systems (Epic preferred) especially perioperative and billing modules.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional and multi-site teams implement change and drive performance improvement initiatives.

Additional Information:
This is a full-time position that requires availability to respond to operational issues during standard working hours with occasional weekend or evening duties depending on patient care needs.
