HR Generalist/Business Partner

SUMMARY

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering and supporting core Human Resources functions to ensure the implementation of sound recruitment, orientation, employee relations, benefit administration, regulatory compliance, compensation, diversity, awards and recognition, employee development and engagement, performance management, and retention programs for Hawthorn Medical Associates providers. Establish local policies and communicate corporate policies. Operate with a high degree of independence and regularly use judgment and discretion in accomplishing goals and objectives. Works with and consults the VP Hawthorn Operations and with others as needed, in unusual situations requiring higher level Human Resources guidance and direction.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures the development of departmental plans, goals, mission, policies/procedures, budget.
  • Ensures selection, training, monitoring and evaluation and engagement of departmental staff.
  • Administers Hawthorn Medical Associates, LLC employee benefit plans, coordinates annual Open Enrollment; enrolls employees or shareholders in elected plans at time of hire and makes changes as required.
  • Communicates with benefit plan vendors to resolve issues with enrollments and/or claims.
  • Reviews and approves vendor invoices to ensure accuracy.
  • Enters plan information in ADP Benefits module and employee contribution amounts in the ADP pay module.
  • Files annual HIRD report with the State of Massachusetts for health plan information.
  • Files annual private PFML plan request with the State of Massachusetts.
  • Develops/implements HR plan for the practice including recruitment, selection, promotion/transfer, orientation, compensation and benefits administration and labor relations in collaboration with the management team.
  • Educates/advises administrative and clinical managers on personnel issues including termination, team member disputes, morale, etc.
  • Provides technical oversight of Human Resources programs and systems to ensure compliance with corporate policies and federal, state and local laws.
  • Develops recruitment strategy, advertises positions, conducts job fairs, and screens candidates for the selection of qualified staff to meet the operating needs of the organization.
  • Verifies final candidate(s) employment references, negotiates salary, and may extend offer of employment verbally and in writing.
  • Performs CORI checks and timely shares any issues related to new candidate hiring or onboarding with VP Hawthorn Operations.
  • Practices open-door policy to encourage employees to discuss concerns.
  • Facilitates peer-to-peer and employee-manager discussion to resolve conflict and to ensure consistent and lawful treatment of employees.
  • In coordination with management, resolves employee conflicts to maintain a positive working environment.
  • Provides administration and support of record keeping and reporting requirements including, but not limited to ADA, FMLA, COBRA, workers compensation, employee compensation, retirement system, benefits administration, short-term disability, staff turnover, HRIS applicant tracking/position control and job files, and employee personnel files.
  • May include safety and health functions to include but not limited to OSHA reporting and employee injury reports.
  • Recommends changes to policy and training to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Responds to unemployment claim and Massachusetts PFML claims.
  • Delivers or coordinates HR, diversity and other training to staff and management to increase morale, effectiveness, productivity and knowledge of Human Resources policies, procedures and practices.
  • Conducts and analyzes annual salary survey data and recommends changes to employee compensation / benefits to ensure competitiveness with local market.
  • May represent company at hearings, trials and other legal venues.
  • Serves as a key participant in annual 401(k) audit, providing information, records and responding to auditor requests.
  • Conducts employee exit interviews, records and reports various turnover data, makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or related field, or equivalent training and experience required.
  • Advanced degree and or Human Resources Certification Institute certification desired, but not required.
  • Technical knowledge of human resources practices, laws and regulations required.
  • Minimum of seven years progressively responsible experience as a Human Resources generalist required; minimum 3 years leadership experience, preferably in a Human Resources setting.
  • Prior experience in a health care environment is preferred.
  • Excellent counseling, verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Computer literacy required.

$64,480.00-$106,412.80
