Lead PSR

SUMMARY: The Lead Patient Service Representative reports to the Office/Practice Manager. The Lead Patient Service Representative oversees and verifies the financial processes associated with patient service operations provided in the Practice. The Lead PSR works closely with other departmental PSRs to greet patients, perform registration check-in functions, answer phones, schedule patient appointments, obtain referrals and authorizations, process forms, and performs discharge processes with the spirit of delivering Brown University Health’s Mission. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees patient financial process to ensure patient payments (co-payments, deductibles, self pay) are obtained at time of service and are properly processed.Verifies that all necessary information is complete and accurate; demographics, referrals, authorizations, billing codes, diagnoses information, etc.Completes end of day batch, including reconciliation of arrived patient schedule and time of service payments within established time frame.Provides clerical support for the practice. Orients and serves as a resource to new employees regarding department policies and procedures.Maintains quality, safety, environmental and infection control in accordance with established department policies, procedures, and objectives.Protects and preserves the patient’s right to privacy and confidentiality.Travel to satellite offices to perform duties may be required.Creates daily/weekly/monthly schedule for the PSRs in addition to appointing and delegating tasks and duties. This includes meeting with each PSR one-on-one to provide feedback on their performance.Participates in the hiring of new PSR’s and plays a key part in on-boarding and training.Coordinates with Clinical Lead/Manager on improving workflows and patient experience.Manages front office operations to ensure co-payments are collected and the timely execution of reminder phone calls, authorizations, prior authorizations, referrals, and confirmations.Manages incoming call volume, monitor patient follow up and PSR productivity.Provides an outstanding customer support to our patients and employees.Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE:p 2= Knowledge normally acquired through completion of two-year Medical Office Management/Medical Secretary program or equivalent experience in a physician’s medical office practice preferred.Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout Brown University Health, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.EXPERIENCE:p 2= Two years experience in a physician’s medical office practice preferred. Proficient in English language and computer appointment scheduling skills. Familiarity with medical office procedures and medical terminology. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.p 2= SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:p 2= Department PSR’s.

Pay Range:

$20.55-$33.93
