Neuropsychology Technician

SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Neuropsychologist, administers one-on-one neuropsychological test batteries to individual patients using approved criteria and standards. Discuss and summarize results with the primary clinician. Serve as a member of the neuropsychology team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administering one-on-one neuropsychological test batteries to individual patients.
  • Scoring the neuropsychological tests.
  • Reporting raw test scores to supervising neuropsychologist, behavioral observations, and assisting in interpreting results.
  • Maintaining and updating neuropsychological measures, documentation, and procedures manuals.
  • Recruiting subjects or assisting in research study efforts.
  • Participation in monthly departmental meetings.
  • Performing other duties as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or related field; Master's degree in a related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in administering psychological and neuropsychological tests.
  • Requires high attention to detail and an ability to provide services for the assessment of cognition and neuropsychological functioning in the context of dementia, movement disorders, cerebrovascular disease, mental health disorders, traumatic brain injury, and epilepsy.
  • Complete understanding of the quality controls that assure records are complete, accurate, and in accordance with all necessary guidelines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work is performed in a typical office setting.

INDEPENDENT ACTION:

  • Performs independently within the department’s policies and procedures. Refers specific complex problems to the Administrative Director when clarification of the departmental policies and procedures are required.
