Summary: The PFS Float reports to the Director of Physician Revenue Cycle. The PFS Float will be trained on a variety of responsibilities within the physician revenue cycle and be able to assist wherever is needed.Duties may include but are not limited to working in various Epic WQs performing office administrative functions assisting with annual department budget processing credit card and paper check payments managing payer website access batching payments posting payments and reprocessing denied claims.
Responsibilities: The PFS Float may be privy to employee and/or revenue specific data and must maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times. Works closely with Director Managers Supervisors and staff. May also work with Vice President of PFS Finance the payers vendors and other Brown University Health departments. Assists Director with department budget. Generate reports as needed confirm payments applies to department cost centers and contact Finance with discrepancies. Request checks for reimbursement and vendor payments as needed. Maintain payer website access for PFS staff and practice staff. Troubleshoot issues that occur. Add new users and remove users that no longer require access. Add new providers and new NPI and link users as appropriate. Process paper checks received in office. This includes verifying the balance in the patient�s account (all affiliates) returning checks where no balance currently exists researching Epic to identify appropriate affiliate sending checks and check totals by affiliate to Finance to deposit in the correct account and returning checks with missing information or no corresponding Epic account. Process credit card transactions by affiliate reconcile checks to report and send reports to Finance by affiliate to log in the correct account. Work in follow-up WQs as needed.This may include correcting registration errors rebilling secondary claims verifying coverage researching accounts on payer websites contacting payer representatives applying monies from unapplied bucket posting adjustments and processing corrected claims/appeals. Batch electronic and paper payments and scan document into On-Base. Manually and electronically post payments for all affiliates into the Epic HB and PB systems and assure amount posted reconciles to the batch amount. Manage calendar for directors managers and supervisors. Assists with managing calendar for conference room and training room. Secures workstations for remote employees who need to work in the office. Take minutes of meetings as requested and publish minutes and new agendas to meeting attendees. Maintain office supplies. Orders supplies as needed and as are within the budget. Utilize Peoplesoft to order claim forms and coding/billing book orders. Assure all office equipment is working properly initiating service orders/IS tickets when needed. Set up new employees with parking stickers emergency contacts etc. Performs other duties assigned.
Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: High school graduate with knowledge of medical business office practices proficient in medical systems and additional training or experience in healthcare billing/coding.Associate degree in accounting or business office practices. EXPERIENCE: One year experience in physician revenue cycle or other clerical position in a medical office or hospital.Experience and knowledge in the use of software applications databases and Microsoft Office Suite. Effective communication and organizational skills.Knowledge of Epic preferred but not required. WORK ENVIRONMENT ANDPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in a typical office setting requiring extensive sitting. Position requires ability to speak see and hear within normal range.
