Department: Residential Treatment Program

Position Summary

The Residential Care Counselor provides direct care, supervision, and support to children in a residential treatment setting. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, this role helps develop and implement individualized treatment plans while ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for all children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of assigned children
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized residential care plans
  • Complete initial assessments and treatment plans within 24 hours of admission
  • Review and update care plans regularly based on observations and progress
  • Supervise daily routines and assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of observations and treatment interventions
  • Communicate care plans and updates with multidisciplinary team members
  • Build therapeutic relationships with children and families
  • Respond to behavioral crises using safe, least-restrictive interventions
  • Maintain a structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, shift reports, and program activities
  • Model appropriate behavior and interactions for children and families
  • Support recreational and therapeutic programming

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 6–12 months of experience working with emotionally or behaviorally challenged youth

  • Required certifications (or willingness to obtain):

    • Crisis Management
    • CPR
    • ERS, Safety, and OSHA

Pay Range: $18.13-$29.90
