Room Service Host

SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Patient Services Director and management team, the Room Service Host is responsible for communicating effectively, timely, and courteously with patients, family members, and staff members when distributing menus to all new admissions, obtaining meal choices, and delivering/collecting patient trays, snacks, and tube feeding products. Responsible for communicating with nursing staff related to patients’ diet and meal delivery. RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for communicating effectively, timely, and courteously with patients, nursing, and family members when obtaining meal choices to enter into the CBORD computerized Room Service tablet system, verifying patient satisfaction, identifying meal service problems, and assisting patients on missed meal report for menu selections each meal. Communicates with the dietitian or dietetic technician when patient food/beverage/supplement intake is poor. Communicates patient’s special requests for food not allowed on their diets or diet education.

Accurately enters and updates all meal selections/orders/preferences/special requests for food in CBORD system and accurately maintains the most current information regarding patient diet orders by properly using CBORD Room Service tablet system. If patient is unable to select meal verbally, takes order or enters into CBORD On Demand.

Maintains clean and sanitary work environment and performs cleaning and waste disposal and equipment operation duties in accordance with departmental policies and/or procedures including monitoring, rotating, and filling floor stock according to pars. Checking refrigerators and dry storage area in pantries for cleanliness and out-of-date product, discarding as needed. Identifies safety hazards in the department and reacts to eliminate hazards quickly.

Delivers all patient nourishments, snacks, and tube feeding products. Works well in a team environment. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to perform duties of the Room Service Call Representative as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Ability to read and communicate in the English language. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and the ability to compute percentages. High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills. Strong basic computer skills.

EXPERIENCE: At least one year previous food service or customer service experience is required. CBORD experience preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Mostly standing/walking, with other movement such as repetitive motions, reaching, pulling, and pushing may be required. Speech, sight, and hearing to effectively communicate by varied means including, but not limited to, telephone, in person, and fax. Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs. Exposure to patient environment.
