Sr Clinical Therapist PD

Summary:

Under the clinical supervision of an independently licensed therapist provide outpatient individual family and group therapy to adults with behavioral health disorders adhering to best practice treatment strategies effective for their diagnostic needs. Treatment is provided in a clinic setting. In addition to mood and anxiety disorders adults may have complicated diagnostic profiles that include trauma eating disorders and complex medical conditions cognitive disorders substance use and serious mental illness.

 

Responsibilities:

Establishes positive trusting rapport with clients.

Maintains current knowledge of diagnostic and treatment strategies that are effective for specialized populations; uses and seeks out clinical information to improve competency in treating behavioral health problems in assigned population.

Conducts intake assessments required screenings in accordance with standards of practice with clients coming in through open access hospital discharges emergency services and scheduled appointments.

Develops Treatment Plans that are client and family centered and that address the clinical needs of the client according to best practices for the diagnostic profile.

Provides general outpatient services including individual family and group therapy using best practice treatment strategies effective for the diagnostic needs of clients and as prescribed in the individual Treatment Plans; is alert and responsive to client issues and behaviors.

Conducts crisis assessments of clients at risk of harm to self or others recommending appropriate services and interventions; completes safety plans involving families.

Assesses client�s potential need for pharmacological treatment referring to GOP prescriber and providing ongoing coordinated care.

Provides psycho-educational services based on modality frequency participant and location specifications prescribed in the Treatment Plan. Services will include provision of information regarding behavior disorders mental illness substance abuse community resources etc.

Increases knowledge of diagnostic and treatment strategies that are considered evidence-based strategies for adults with serious mental illness.

Provides care coordination with GOP team members client�s primary care physician and other service providers to promote recovery.

Documents collaboratively with client if possible in progress notes and/or treatment plan review documents.

Completes assessments treatment plans progress notes and discharge summaries according to clinical standards and required timelines.

Identifies family needs that can be supported through other community-based resources maintaining familiarity with the eligibility requirements of those resources and methods of referral.

Identifies indicators of abuse and neglect and responds with appropriate actions.

Maintains knowledge of psychiatric medications and works with prescribing professionals to assess and address the needs of clients assisting them in adhering to medication protocols.

Performs case presentations at clinical treatment meetings as requested synthesizing client needs response to treatment and concerns and integrating team input into clinical work.

Attends meetings and trainings on time and actively participates in discussions.

Participates in supervision as scheduled and may provide clinical supervision to others in line with licensure.

Maintains good work habits arriving on time as scheduled.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or needed.

 

Other information:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Master�s Degree in social work marriage/family counseling rehabilitation counseling mental health counseling or a related mental health field.

Associate-level license including LCSW LMHA and LMFA

Experience working with adults who have adjustment mood and anxiety behavioral health disorders and their families using best practice treatment protocols; at least two years experience providing individual and family therapy. Knowledge of treatment strategies for adults with complicated disorders such as trauma eating disorders substance abuse and serious mental illness.

JOB KNOWLEDGE SKILL AND ABILITY:

Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with clients family members supervisor other agency staff community professionals and other members of the community.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from professionals managers family and the general public.

Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications.

Oral and written communication skills including speech grammar spelling and legibility are at sufficient level to ensure effective and appropriate communication.
