Summary: Reports to the Manager Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services. Serves as the primary liaison for Medication Access Program (MAP) services and is responsible for integrating work coordinating initiatives facilitating communication and documentation building rapport and collaboration between Brown University Health Ambulatory Care Clinics Brown University Health Pharmacy LLC and relevant stakeholders. Responsible for supervising MAP services for Brown University Health affiliates including but not limited to Rhode Island Hospital The Miriam Hospital Newport Hospital Bradley Hospital Brown University Health Pharmacy LLC and Brown University Health Health Alliance LLC Brown University Health�s Accountable Care Organization.
Responsibilities: KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct. Supervises all aspects of MAP service lines including medication refill authorization prior authorization patient assistance programs financial assistance and denial management. Ensures MAP services are provided in accordance with established policies and procedures and federal and state laws and regulations. Oversees MAP services provided to Brown University Health affiliate patients under protocol and a fully executed collaborative practice agreement. Ensures compliance with RI General Law Title 5 Chapter 19.2 entitled Collaborative Pharmacy Practice. Supervises development of coordinated customer-focused MAP services at Brown University Health affiliates. Collaborates with ambulatory clinic supervisors staff practitioners and other key stakeholders to facilitate program implementation. Plans and coordinates MAP services with outside agencies. Ensures MAP team is offering Brown University Health Pharmacy as an option for patient�s prescription needs. Collaborates with ambulatory care clinic management and practitioners to explain MAP services and goals while educating staff on workflow processes. Primary contact for MAP related services and support. Supervises daily operations develops systems and workflows to improve productivity and efficiency and promote MAP success. Ensures that MAP activities operate to support established clinical standard of care and meet or exceed patient care quality standards and customer needs. Monitors MAP services through continuous quality assessment and performance improvement programs. Develops metrics and targets related to productivity clinical outcomes and patient and provider satisfaction. Monitors outcomes identifies opportunities for improvement and execute Participates in the effective recruitment development evaluation and retention of direct and indirect report staff to optimize achievement of MAP goals and objectives in conjunction with the Manager Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services. Participates in the development and establishment of short and long-term goals for MAP services in alignment with Brown University Health values and key business objectives. Assists the Manager Ambulatory Clinical Pharmacy Services in development and implementation of business plans for new or expanded MAP services including but not limited to goals objectives finances resources risk outcomes assessment business plans and return on investment calculation. Communicates effectively and continually with the staff management providers and customers to facilitate the optimal flow of operations. Provides timely and accurate communication both written and verbal as appropriate. Works in concert with interdepartmental colleagues to develop and streamline communication and workflows to ensure that collaboration between ambulatory pharmacy ambulatory care clinics and other departments is effective and efficient. Participates in medication refill authorization and prior authorization service go-lives and program expansion/updates. Maintains excellent working relationships with interdepartmental and intradepartmental leadership and employees. Serves as a preceptor for pharmacy residents and students. Maintains knowledge of and expertise in leading edge developments in pharmacy driven medication access programs including services programs and innovative technology by participation in ongoing independent study education-related professional activities and affiliations. Prepares papers for presentation at professional organization meetings submits manuscripts for publication in professional journals and authors articles for publication on the Pharmacy web site. Performs other duties as assigned.s corrective actions to address variances from targets.

Maintains current unrestricted licensure as a licensed pharmacist in the State of Rhode Island. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and sensitivity to cultural diversity in each step of the care process. QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE: Three years progressively more responsible related experience preferably gained in a similarly diverse and operationally complex health care environment or completion of an ASHP accredited PGY2 residency is desired. Experience with computerized pharmacy information and dispensing systems operations and clinical pharmacy services. Experience managing clinical information and working with financial eligibility and third-party payor programs. Effective verbal and writing skills. SUPERVISION: Direct supervision of up to 30 FTEs professional and support personnel.
