Behavioral Health Specialist I PD

SUMMARY

This home‑based position provides direct ABA services to children ages 2–8+ under the supervision of the IBT Coordinator and Clinical Director. The Behavior Health Specialist I (BHS I) ensures child safety, implements ABA programming, and documents progress. RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Care

• Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic home environment.
• Engage with children throughout each shift.
• Implement ABA treatment plans and document observations as directed.
• Assist children with daily routines, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Identify and report safety concerns or incidents promptly.
• Interrupt self‑stimulatory or aggressive behaviors using approved interventions.
• Maintain professional boundaries.

Professional Standards

• Follow all hospital, departmental, and program policies.
• Attend required meetings and trainings.
• Maintain current CPR, OSHA, ERS, and safety certifications.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and daily reporting.
• Document significant observations and ABA data accurately.
• Adapt care approaches to meet individual child needs.
• Share knowledge with colleagues as appropriate.

ABA & Behavioral Support

• Support development and implementation of ABA care plans.
• Teach and assist with daily living skills based on each child’s abilities.
• Set consistent therapeutic limits aligned with program standards.
• Implement individualized behavioral programs with guidance from supervisors.
• Participate in children’s physical and social development activities.
• Travel reliably to assigned home‑based sessions.
• Model appropriate therapeutic interactions with children and families.
• Manage crises safely using the least restrictive interventions.
• Seek supervision and apply feedback.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Pursuing or holding a bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field.
• Equivalent experience may be considered.

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to provide developmentally appropriate care across the lifespan.
• Reliable transportation required.

Experience

• Experience with young children preferred.
• Training provided in ABA, positive reinforcement, confidentiality, and crisis management.
• Current CPR, ERS, OSHA, and safety certifications required.

Supervisory Responsibility

• None.
