Mgr Accounting

Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director of Finance
manage accounting operations for Rhode Island Hospital (RIH) The Miriam
Hospital (TMH) Emma Pendleton Bradley Hospital (EPBH) and all related
affiliates. Responsible for monthly consolidated financial statements and
general ledgers for RIH TMH EPBH and all related affiliates.

Responsibilities:

Interview hire and assign subordinate staff; provide
guidance and counsel to subordinate staff; conduct periodic performance
evaluations; recommend personnel actions; act as resource for staff; conduct
periodic individual and/or group staff meetings; approve payroll; provide and
maintain subordinate staff development plans; develop standards for subordinate
staff performance; present monthly Brown University Health consolidated financial statements
at management meeting.

 

Responsible for maintenance and accuracy of accounting
records of RIH TMH EPBH and all related affiliates. Review and approve
general journal entries of significance.

 

Responsible for timely and accurate submission of monthly
RIH TMH EPBH and all related affiliates consolidated financial statements.

 

Responsible for preparation of annual balance sheet and cash
flow budget for RIH TMH EPBH and all related affiliates.

 

Responsible for preparation of quarterly financial
statements and narrative for The Obligated Group.

 

Develop annual budget proposal for hospital administrative
responsibility centers for review by Director of Finance.

 

On a monthly basis monitor (and work with appropriate
accounting staff to resolve) temporarily restricted fund (SPF) deficits for
Rhode Island Hospital The Miriam Hospital and Emma Pendleton Bradley
Hospital. For those SPFs reflecting no spending within the previous twelve
months follow up with SPF managers to facilitate spending. Compare documented
purpose restrictions to SPF permanent files. Approve SPF spending on a routine
basis.

 

Serve as consultant regarding RIH TMH EPBH and all related
affiliates financial affairs. Participate in the development of Finance
Department operating policies and procedures initiating modification proposals
as needed.

 

Participate in councils quality improvement teams and
other such committees as required.

 

Perform ongoing evaluation of procedures to improve work
flow and reduce the costs of accounting operations.

 

Maintain quality assurance safety environmental and
infection control in accordance with established system policies procedures
and objectives.

 

Perform other related duties as required.

 

 

























































 

Other information:

QUALIFICATIONS-EDUCATION:

Bachelor�s Degree in Accounting or equivalent.

Level of knowledge of accounting practices equivalent to
Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

 

QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:

Minimum five years progressively more responsible general
accounting experience including two years of supervisory responsibility.

 

Experience in automated complex accounting environment
required health care environment preferred.

 

Broad experience with Microsoft Office applications and
understanding of large automated database systems.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Supervisory responsibility for up to ten full-time
equivalent personnel.

 























































Supervision includes interviewing hiring scheduling
training conducting performance appraisals and recommendation of personnel
action.
